Wandering Acoustics is a Bay Area band that began as a wife and husband duo. Sonia and Russ, who originally met in a band 3 decades ago, found themselves reigniting their passion of playing music after taking an extended break to raise their son. During shelter-in-place, the couple had the opportunity to play and record music at home and started building a song list which included Beatles, Eagles, Bowie, Tom Petty, CSN and other classic rock and pop songs.

 

As more outdoor dining areas emerged, Sonia and Russ started to search for places to perform. The Los Altos Village Association (LAVA) gave them their first opportunity to perform at the Los Altos Farmers Market which led to more opportunities at local venues, restaurants, wineries, breweries, festivals and local events.

 

Seeking to elevate their live performances, Wandering Acoustics welcomed a new member into their ranks. Enter Jeff Schmidt, a skilled drummer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist who seamlessly integrated himself into the group, infusing their music with a fresh energy and adding a new dimension to their sound. 

 

By the Spring of 2023, Wandering Acoustics had celebrated their 100th show at the Campbell Boogie Festival! They were also performing regularly at local venues, such as The Post, P&V Winery, Tessora's Barra di Vino, Loma Brewing Company, Freewheel Brewing, Big Dog Winery and The Mountain Winery.
